One of the first major RPG franchises I fell in love with way back in the day, following the forgettable 2016 release of Integrity and Faithlessness, Tri-Ace will be back in 2022 with another instalment in the Star Ocean sci-fi RPG franchise. Titled Star Ocean: The Divine Force, this sixth chapter in the action-RPG series will be released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC (via Steam) in 2022, published by Square Enix.
According to Square Enix, Star Ocean: The Divine Force will tell “a gripping story that seamlessly melds science fiction and fantasy elements” which will have appeal to both newcomers and veterans alike. Following a trend undertaken by other RPGs nowadays, players will take control of dual protagonists, offering different story perspectives and gameplay experiences: Raymond, the captain of the space trading ship, Ydas, and Laeticia, the princess-knight of a kingdom on an underdeveloped planet. This time around, all characters are being designed by Akiman, who previously worked on Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness and the Street Fighter series.
More information will be surely released around the game in the coming months leading to launch. To keep you sated until then, keep scrolling down for a look at a range of screenshots and other game assets.
