Dark Deity Heads to Nintendo Switch in 2022

Currently available to play on the PC, having received “mostly positive” reviews on Steam, developer Sword & Axe LLC and publisher Freedom Games has announced that Dark Deity is headed to the Nintendo Switch in 2022. For those not aware, Dark Deity is a turn-based tactical RPG which draws inspiration by classics of the genre. This will not be a straight port, with the development team confirming that “additional content” will be made available for the Nintendo Switch version, with more information expected in the coming months.

Dark Deity see’s players lead 30 characters into battle, each being voiced by some respectable English voice talent (Eg. Kira Buckland of NieR Automata and Persona 5 acclaim), with customisation being possible through approximately 50 unlockable character classes.

But should you get attached to any character in particular, you may want to be strategic when using them in battle. The game features a reimagining of the ‘perma-death’ system they call ‘Grave Wounds’. Instead of removing units from the party permanently, the Grave Wounds system gives units permanent stat penalties when their health reaches zero to emulate physical injuries or mental scars. Units will have to adapt to their wounds and discover new tactics to achieve victory.
