Provided there is no sudden surge of COVID-19 cases in Queensland over the next few days, Mr Willy Wonka is due to open the doors to his Chocolate Factory, conveniently located on the Lyric Theatre stage at QPAC, from Thursday evening for a limited season. His door may only be opening to five lucky children and their families – including Charlie Bucket whose (spoiler alert!) life is about to be sweetened beyond his wildest dreams – but other guests will be able to peer into his experiences from the comfort of their seats.
With its originally planned Brisbane season cancelled in the first half of 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is being presented at QPAC separately from its original Australian tour. This production is currently not planned to be performed anywhere else, and is being presented by QPAC in association with John Frost for Crossroads Live, Warner Bros Theatre Ventures, Langley Park Productions and Neal Street Productions.

Performances are currently confirmed to be held from Thursday 2 September 2021 until Sunday 26 September 2021 inclusive. Tickets are priced between $69.00 AUD and $139.00 AUD, with pricing dependant on seating reserve, whether you are attending as a family (Either 2 Adults + 2 Children OR 1 Adult and 3 Children) and whether you are attending a weekday or weekend performance. Tickets can be purchased exclusively via the QPAC Website or by calling QTIX on 136 246.
The Brisbane season features four local youngsters as Charlie Bucket (Cooper Matthews, Edgar Stirling, Flynn Nowlan and Phineaus Knickerbocker), with an adult cast featuring the likes of Stephen Anderson (Willy Wonka), Robert Grubb (Grandpa Joe) and Lucy Maunder (Mrs Bucket).
