Since releasing on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC in January 2019, Bandai Namco Studios has continued post-launch development for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown well past the one year mark. Later this season, it has been confirmed that ‘Experimental Aircraft’ downloadable content will be released for the flight combat simulator.
As its name implies, this DLC is not about bringing old classics or popular planes to the game. Instead, it introduces three types of real experimental aircrafts from recent decades, which Bandai Namco claim have been “developed to improve performance and attack capabilities”. These include:
- F-15 S/MTD (The Boeing Company)
- F-16XL (Lockheed Martin Corporation)
- FB-22 Strike Raptor (Lockheed Martin Corporation)
In addition to the crafts, this update will introduce skins and emblems of enemy pilots and rival units from past games in the series into Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
