Watch Dogs: Legion to Launch in Late October 2020

Recruit Anyone, Play as Anyone!

Earlier today, multinational video game developer and publisher Ubisoft hosted their inaugural Ubisoft Forward digital event. This event was created in response to the cancellation of their annual E3 2020 press conference due to COVID-19, and was home to announcements and previews around the latest significant projects from their studios.

Watch Dogs: Legion to Launch in Late October 2020 1

For the last couple of years, we have been receiving glimpses at the third Watch_Dogs game titled Watch Dogs: Legion. You will be able to head into this new instalment when it releases on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and Windows PC platforms (via Epic Games Store and UbiSoft Store) from 29 October 2020. As with other games released by Ubisoft in coming months, those who purchase it on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be eligible for a free upgrade to the respective next-generation console when launched.

Featuring modern open worlds to explore and a narrative which is rich in online and hacker culture, the unique element of these action-adventure titles is to both utilise and weaponise the technology all around us to achieve your goals. Moving from the United States to the streets of London, Watch Dogs: Legion’s main quirk is that you can recruit and play as virtually any Londoner roaming around the city. Each of these characters will have their own backstory, personality and skillset. This is a first-time initiative from Ubisoft’s Toronto studio and a step up from the original Watch_Dogs where every NPC was given their own unique name and facts – sometimes hilariously.

In Watch Dogs: Legion, London is facing its downfall. Amidst the growing unrest of a restless London, a mysterious entity known as Zero-Day has framed secret underground resistance DedSec for coordinated bombings across London. In the aftermath, criminal opportunists from every dark corner of London took hold and filled the void left by a defeated government. As a member of DedSec, players will be going up against criminal opportunists in Watch Dogs: Legion; sadists, mercenaries, cybercriminals, and more; they’ll have to be prepared for a variety of situations. Recruiting a growing number of citizens to your cause, you will take on criminal opportunists, liberate London and uncover the mystery behind Zero-Day.

In addition to the above gameplay overview trailer which highlights many of the game’s features in-action, Ubisoft also confirmed that Watch Dogs: Legion will support hardware-accelerated DirectX Raytracing on Xbox Series X and full ray-tracing support on Nvidia RTX-equipped PC devices, bringing real-time ray-tracing reflections to the streets of London. No information has been confirmed around if the PlayStation 5 version will offer similar ray-tracing support.
