Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Release Date Confirmed

Plus, Actual Gameplay Trailer Shared

Earlier today, multinational video game developer and publisher Ubisoft hosted their inaugural Ubisoft Forward digital event. This event was created in response to the cancellation of their annual E3 2020 press conference due to COVID-19 and was home to announcements and previews around the latest major projects from their studios.

After skipping a new release in 2019, Ubisoft a few months ago confirmed that work was underway at their Montreal studio on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The next instalment in their long-running historical action-RPG series would this time take players back to the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages in the ninth century. There, players would step into the shoes of a Viking who must carve out a new future for their clan.

During the Ubisoft Forward event, it was confirmed that the action-adventure game will be available worldwide on 17 November 2020 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, and the Windows PC via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store. Both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 editions of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be available upon console launch, with upgrades offered from their respective current-generation console free of charge.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Release Date Confirmed 1

Ubisoft Forward provided a lot of actual in-game footage from the game, as well as information on new systems being introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. These new features include dual-wielding, raiding, assaults and more open-world activities. Raids are being pitched as “more action-packed and brutal than anything Assassin’s Creed has seen before”, with players able to take advantage of a new visceral combat system that lets players bash, dismember, and decapitate foes. Eivor will be able to dual-wield axes, swords, and even shields against the “greatest variety of enemy types ever seen in Assassin’s Creed”. Plus, the Hidden Blade returns, allowing Eivor to assassinate targets discreetly with deadly precision.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be available from 17 November 2020 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia and Windows PC platforms. Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 editions will also be offered upon the respective consoles launching to market.
