The Crystal Heart Festival 2020 in Second Life Postponed Until Next Year

The greatest coming together of magical girl attire, furniture and goodies delayed until 2021

Although I don’t usually post news around the happenings of Second Life given that would take up more time then I have, this is one such occasion where I feel this news is necessary as an otaku-oriented website. For the last three years, event organisers and creators of the Second Life community have come together in June to hold The Crystal Heart Festival. For those who are fans of everything magical girl, this is by far the biggest event of its kind on the annual calendar, offering an assortment of “mahou shoujo” style outfits, furniture, accessories and much more.

I attended last year, and this was the first event I have ever exceeded my usually small event shopping budget several times over. While there are many great events which budding virtual photographers will want to check out in Second Life for that great piece of inspiration, The Crystal Heart Festival is one of the best. The outfits I collected during the event have made it into several Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo segments both up to this point and in the future.

With it being June this month, I was looking forward to this year’s event. Unfortunately, the decision was made last week for this year’s Crystal Heart Festival to be cancelled, with plans for it to return in 2021. A full statement by the organisers can be found below:

While this is disappointing news, it is understandable given everything taking place in the world at this time, and everyone’s mental health being of great importance. However, I am already looking forward to seeing what is on offer next year, and perhaps seeing a few of the regular creators releasing magical girl themed items in its place.
