New Borderlands 3 Adventures Confirmed for Next Month

Bounty of Blood and New Takedown Due to Release in June

During the most recent episode of Gearbox Software and 2K Games’ The Borderlands Show, viewers were treated to their first look at the next two major content updates being implemented into Borderlands 3 next month. This content includes new end-game challenges, narrative additions and much more.

First from the developers will be Takedown at the Guardian Breach, launching on 4 June 2020. This is a new endgame gauntlet designed to put players skills and gear to the ultimate test. Like Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite, this new Takedown will be an extreme challenge that scales to the number of players in your party but is meant to push a full party of four leveled-up Vault Hunters to the limit. Together you’ll undertake a reconnaissance mission to the planet of Minos Prime to locate the source of a mysterious Guardian signal. Upon arrival, you’ll be besieged by a sect of rogue Guardians who have irrevocably transformed Minos Prime.

Along with new enemies, low-gravity platforming sections, and environmental puzzles, you’ll have to overcome both a miniboss and a final boss encounter. Should you survive, you’ll be rewarded with a host of new items, including themed weapons, gear, and collectible cosmetics.

Takedown at the Guardian Breach will be available as a free update to the base game – but as endgame content – won’t be something you can easily dive into at the beginning of the campaign.

Launching on 25 June 2020 will be Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption, the third major post-launch campaign add-on to Borderlands 3. As with the previous two campaign add-ons – Moxxi’s Heist of The Handsome Jackpot and Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock – Bounty of Blood features an all-new setting, only here your Vault Hunter will interact with an entirely new cast of characters as an unseen narrator commentates your adventure.

You’ll travel to the harsh desert planet of Gehenna to claim a bounty on The Devil Riders, a vicious gang of bandits that’s been terrorizing the small town of Vestige. Along the way, you’ll run into fresh faces like Rose, a warrior who’s adept with pistol and katana alike, and Juno, a rough-and-tumble brawler with a checkered past. Your actions will have a direct impact on Vestige and its denizens, as you help build the town back up through story missions and Crew Challenges alike.

The developers boast several new gameplay additions alongside this add-on. These include a customisable JetBeast hoverbike which helps players transverse open plains quickly, and four new interactive objects designed to aid the Vault Hunter in both combat and exploration.

Drawing the stream to a close, Creative Director Matt Cox shared the above artwork. While not sharing any further details, it is designed to give players a hint at what to expect from the fourth add-on campaign currently in development.

Developed by Gearbox Software and published worldwide by 2K Games; Borderlands 3 is an action RPG now available on the Windows PC, Mac OS, Google Stadia, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gaming platforms.
