
Long-time readers of The Otaku’s Study will know that I consider Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles to be one of the best titles ever released for the Nintendo Gamecube during its generation.
It has long been an opinion of mine that the game should receive new life on current generation consoles, and in September 2018 that dream became a reality, with confirmation development was underway on a Remastered edition for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch platforms.
During Tokyo Game Show 2019, Square Enix refined a “Coming 2019” launch window for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition down to a specific “23 January 2020” release date.
Unfortunately in an announcement made via the official Square Enix Twitter Account, they are no longer able to keep that date and are now looking at a new “Summer 2020” launch window (or Winter 2020 for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere).
The reasoning given for this adjusted release date was that the development team required extra time to make final adjustments. You can find the full announcement below:
