The tier system, according to Bandai Namco, has been “carefully fashioned to model that encountered by real-world drivers”. Players can follow their chosen discipline all the way from Tier 6 to Tier 1. Tiers include GT Cards, prototypes, rallycross and touring cars. The system has purportedly been “subjected to a careful overall in order to empower drivers to sample a far greater selection of the 180-plus cars and 40 tracks on offer”.

The contract-offer system from the first game will make a return, although has also been refined to “ensure drivers have far more choices with which team they sign up for as they advance through their careers”. Drivers can now choose the car they want to drive in a specific series, and will be presented with teams that have open seats in their desired car and series.

The Manufacturer Drives system is a new addition to Project Cars 2, and will see 14 auto manufacturers including Ferrari, Porche, Aston Martin and more invite drivers to tackle a series of challenger events.
