NIS America to Bring Another Touhou Game to Western Markets in 2017 – Touhou Genso Wanderer

In terms of publishers bringing Touhou games to markets outside of Japan, 2016 has been a pretty big year. In the early months of this year, Nippon Ichi Software America confirmed plans to release competitive shoot ’em’ up Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet; while XSEED Games have also recently confirmed their plans to work on Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity.

But a third Touhou game is headed our way in 2017, with NIS America confirming their acquisition of Fushigi no Gensokyo: The Tower of Desire, Touhou Genso Wanderer (Under the localised title Touhou Genso Wanderer). Originally released in Japan, Touhou Genso Wanderer will be available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita both physically and digitally next year.

Unlike Bullet Ballet which is a competitive shoot-em-up, Touhou Genso Wanderer is a roguelike RPG which will see players take control of Reimu, the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, to investigate the latest incident to take place in the world of Gensokyo.

About Touhou Genso Wanderer

One day, Reimu Hakurei is visiting Rinnosuke Morichika at his shop, Kourindo. He shows her one of his prized possessions, the golden sphere. However, when she touches it, it unleashes a mysterious beam of light. Rinnosuke starts acting strange, and a giant tower now stands where Kourindo used to be. The population of Gensokyo has also been replicated by clones who attack people on sight. As the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, it is Reimu’s duty to resolve this latest incident and bring peace back to Gensokyo.

Along the way, she is joined by Futo Mononobe, who has recently set out on a quest to become a first class sage. With her partner in tow, can Reimu make her way through the dungeons of the tower and put an end to this incident?
