[E3 2016] Crash Bandicoot Headed to PlayStation 4 as Remastered HD Classic

After making a not-so-subtle cameo appearance in the early chapters of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, these coming months are shaping up to be pretty big for Crash Bandicoot, a character who pretty much became synonymous with the PlayStation 1 back in the day.

Although specifics have yet to be confirmed, it was revealed during the PlayStation E3 2016 press conference that Activision will be reintroducing gamers to Crash Bandicoot through fully remastered version of the first three Crash games. Whether these will be available as standalone titles or part of one remastered HD collection, expect to see Crash BandicootCrash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped on the PlayStation 4 in 2017.

A little bit sooner, Activision have confirmed they will be paying homage to the video game star in Skylanders Imaginators. As a guest star character, Crash will merge elements fans have come to know and love with Skylanders Imaginators’ newest class of characters: Sensei’s. In Skylanders Imaginators, every Sensei has a devastating Sky-Chi attack – their most powerful move. Crash’s Sky-Chi attack is the ability to use a yo-yo to yank his enemies into a spin attack. Almost as significant as Crash’s inclusion is the fact that voice actor Jess Harnell will reprise his role as the iconic character.

Skylanders: Imaginators will be available for purchase in October on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U. Crash will be available as part of the Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack Featuring Crash Bandicoot at launch, exclusively on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The toy however will be playable across platforms.

For years, we’ve been asked when is Crash returning, and today that question has been answered. Activision is proud to celebrate the iconic character’s 20-year anniversary by bringing him back in ways that will appeal to hardcore fans as well as introduce him to a new generation of gamers.

We can’t wait for gamers to see Crash bring his unique style and quirky personality to the epic battle against Kaos in Skylanders Imaginators. And next year, we’ll expand on the Crash experience for players with remastered versions of three classic games.
