Next Battlefield Game to be Titled Battlefield 1, Set Against the Backdrop of World War 1

With Battlefield Hardline now behind us, it should not come as a surprise that a new Battlefield game is currently in the works. Electronic Arts and developer DICE have announced their plans to release Battlefield 1 on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gaming platforms starting October 21st 2016. The game’s title does not indicate plans to restart the series from scratch, but rather represents its backdrop: World War 1.

While more information is set to be uncovered in the months leading to launch, we do know that players will be able to squad-up and partake in multiplayer battles with up to 64 players. From tight urban fights in a besieged French city, to big open spaces in the Italian Alps and frantic combats in the deserts of Arabia, there are set to be quite a few different locales to fight against NPCs and other players from around the world in.

Players will also be able to take to the skies and engage in dogfights through treacherous landscapes, or move away from the land and obliterate the coast from a battleship on the sea. According to Electronic Arts, players will be able to “engage in some of the biggest battles ever seen as empires clash for supremacy”.

The game will deliver a fresh experience full of what makes Battlefield great, with a multiplayer sandbox, immersion, epic scale, authenticity, team play and an ever-changing world full of unexpected Battlefield moments. We’re inviting players on an epic journey across a war-torn world, taking them to the Great War and providing something both varied and unique in Battlefield 1.
