As the wait continues for their release of Kingdom Hearts III, Square Enix have released another spin-off game in the long-running Kingdom Hearts franchise. Known by the title Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ (Which is pronounced Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key), this smartphone exclusive game will shed new light onto the events to be present in both Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III.
Unlike all other Kingdom Hearts games, you will not be left with a named character. Instead, players can create their own Keyblade wielder using the ‘Avatar’ system. This customisation system will allow you to craft a unique character, with a number of costumes available which are based on seasonal events, Disney themes and films. Costumes are not limited to Disney or Square Enix games previously introduced to the Kingdom Hearts franchise either. While there will be costumes based on Alice in Wonderland and Final Fantasy mascot Moogle, they have confirmed there will also be outfits based on Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from the new animated film Zootopia.
Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ will see players transverse worlds of many different Disney franchises. While travelling these worlds, you can collect, fuse and evolve hundreds of medals that contain the power of different heroes and villains alike. Keyblades will also be discoverable, and can subsequently be strengthened using found items.

We wanted to thank all the KINGDOM HEARTS fans for patiently waiting for the launch of KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ in North America. We would love for everyone to dive into the world of KINGDOM HEARTS not only through this title, but through the upcoming titles, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and KINGDOM HEARTS III.
As an origins story, there are many elements in the game that new players can enjoy. The game can also be easily picked up and played, so it would be great if fans new and old, take the opportunity to play the game.
Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is now available for download on the iOS App Store and Android Google Play store. While this is a free-to-play app, it will be supported by in-app purchases.
