When SEGA release their English localised port of JRPG 7th Dragon III Code: VFD later this year, players will be tasked with using time travelling technology to travel to three different points in time – with its capabilities proving invaluable in the characters quest to rid the world of its dragon menace. This is because to even have a chance of taking down the mighty 7th Dragon: VFD which stands to destroy the world forever, True Dragons in the different periods must be destroyed.
While it is in my opinion a pretty standard move to provide a “Past”, “Present” and “Future” option, Sega have shared information on each realm you will be able to explore:
Present-day Tokyo: The year is 2100 and Tokyo is your first destination in-game. The city is an urban jungle filled with hazardous areas like the subway line and landmark giant tower. However, if you need to take a breather from hunting dragons, Nodens Enterprises HQ is located here.
Ancient Atlantis: Players will not just be going through three versions of Eden, and when travelling backwards in time, the characters will be dropped off in the mythical ocean city of Atlantis. Be warned, the capital city of Atlantica, royal palace, and Cladeon lower wards are rife with danger. But should you manage to survive these threats…. their blacksmiths are talented.
Futuristic Eden: The futuristic collection of states known as Eden will be the last time and place you’ll explore. You can visit the Kazan Republic, the ruins of Preloma, or brave the mysteries of the sealed tower. However, it would be wise to remain vigilant as dragons and enemies haunt your every step. The future is definitely bleak, so don’t be surprised if some people from that time period are sympathetic to your cause.
The trailer at the top of this post provides a closer look at these time periods, among other things during its brief minute-long runtime.
Developed exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD will be available for purchase later this year from Sega.
