Elite: Dangerous Planetary Landings to Be Possible in Paid Expansion Pack

-

With an expansive array of star systems and planets to fly among in Elite: Dangerous, there are an almost countless number of areas for players to explore, trade and fight within while playing the game. However, players have more or less been confined to their ship since launch, unable to land on a planet and explore everything it has to offer. This was one of many features currently on the bucket list of developer Frontier Developments, and has recently been confirmed as a feature that players will have to pay for to take full advantage of.

In a recent announcement made by Frontier Developments, the company are working on bringing “another full season of major gameplay expansions for Elite Dangerous”, the first of which is set to begin later this year.  Covering a full season of content extending into 2016 – including planetary landings – an expansion pack has been announced with the title: Elite Dangerous: Horizons.

The release of planetary landings will seemingly be incremental, starting with airless, rocky planet-sized sandbox worlds, with lots to uncover and obtain. For a little more on plans for the planetary landing system, read the official announcement HERE.

There will be two prices for this pack. The first is to purchase Elite Dangerous: Horizons as a standalone pack, priced at £39.99. Alternatively, it is possible to purchase a “Lifetime Expansion Pass” which will include all upcoming Expansion Packs for £130.00. Purchasing the latter will also grant access to all Elite: Dangerous beta builds. For a limited time, all existing players can take advantage of a £10 loyalty discount for the expansion, which also comes with the exclusive Cobra Mk IV ship.
