Koei Tecmo and Gust have recently shared their first promotional video for Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book (Aka. Sophie no Atelier: Fushigi na Hon no Renkinjutushi | ソフィーのアトリエ ～不思議な本の錬金術士～), the next instalment in the long-running Atelier franchise. Although only a few months away from its September 25 launch in Japan, this video only begins to introduce the characters and concepts behind the game.
Once getting past the first 30 or so seconds which serves to highlight all core games released in the franchise, this new video focuses on Sophie Neuenmuller (the game’s titular character and protagonist), and her book Plachta. Although minimal gameplay is shown, it is implied that both Sophie and the humanoid form of Plachta can change their portrait appearance during gameplay. To what extent is unknown.
Following six core games released for the PlayStation 3, Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book is the first to be developed with the PlayStation 4 in mind (Alongside the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms).
