With several new first-party titles set to hit store shelves over the coming months, Nintendo have unveiled new amiibo figures being produced to complement them. First up are three coloured Yarn Yoshi amiibo’s which are made out of a knitted material and being launched alongside Yoshi’s Woolly World (Wii U).
At the moment, only three colours (Green, Pink and Light Blue) are being commissioned, but here’s hoping other colours will be released in the future. Among other uses, tapping one of these yarn amiibo to the GamePad while playing Yoshi’s Woolly World will make another Yoshi appear, allowing players to control Double Yoshi.
Yoshi’s Woolly World is set to hit store shelves on June 27th 2015.

With Splatoon set to hit store shelves on May 20th 2015, Nintendo have also confirmed that they will be simultaneously launching three new amiibo’s for the game – Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy and Inkling Squid. These will be available in a pack containing all three figures. Tapping one of these amiibo on the Wii U gamepad will unlock special missions to receive weapons and gear.
In addition to this announcement, a new trailer for Splatoon highlighting some of the game’s newly unveiled maps has been released. You can take a look at it below:
