Although it is not a new feature in the game, and has remained fairly unchanged since Devil Survivor (1) was first released on the Nintendo DS many years ago, ATLUS USA have shared a trailer for the Demon Auction system in Devil Survivor 2 Break Record.
The entire concept of this system is that when looking to purchase a demon for your arsenal, you are pitted against three other CPU bidders. Using the demonic currency, Macca, you must outbid your opponents to gain a demon’s allegiance. These can then be immediately used in battle or as part of a demonic fusion.
Each demon will come with ratings – the more stars the better stats and skills it comes with, meaning a strong ally for immediate use, or eventual fusion fodder down the road. There’s also special auctions for exceptional demons, but these come at a greater cost.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker is set for release in North America on May 5th 2015 as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive JRPG. This edition is an enhanced port of the original Nintendo DS edition, featuring a fully voiced storyline, a completely new chapter, new animations, StreetPass / SpotPass functionality and more. No PAL region release has been confirmed as of posting, although I would expect either Nippon Ichi Software America or Ghostlight to confirm their distribution plans soon.
