Just like its predecessor, when you first begin a new file in Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight, you are given the choice of two modes to play through: Story and Classic Mode. Classic Mode is set to deliver a comparable experience to the one offered in Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard back in 2008, where you create your own party of characters (From 13 available classes) and take them on dungeon explorations with less of an emphasis on dubbed dialogue or storyline delivery. The ability to create your own party means you can create characters that suit your own play style, and improve them using Grimoire Stones – granting any character the ability to use select skills from other classes.
The Classic Mode will feature a handful of new features compared to the original DS release, including revamped dungeon layouts and graphical improvements. It will also be possible to switch between the original “Classic” soundtrack and the new orchestral score. To highlight this mode, ATLUS USA have shared a short video of it which can be viewed at the top of this post.
Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight is set to be published later this year by ATLUS USA (In North America) and NIS America (PAL Regions). The dungeon crawling RPG will be available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.
