Following the game’s release in North America by Koei Tecmo America and Nippon Ichi Software America, Koei Tecmo Europe and Australian distributor Mindscape have confirmed that Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea is now available in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
This PlayStation 3 exclusive JRPG once again attempts to combine the various elements which have defined the series since it first launched on the PS3 with Atelier Rorona: Exploration, Battles, Life Tasks and Events, with a heavier emphasis on Alchemy/Synthesis than the earlier PS2 games. While I will save my opinion for the review which should be published in the next couple of days – there are numerous changes that have been purportedly made according to community feedback. One of the most significant changes is a removal of the controversial time-limit system, allowing players to enjoy the game at their own pace.
In Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea, players choose to play as either the reserved, mission-focused Shallistera– daughter of a tribal leader who embarks on a voyage to find a solution to a crisis affecting her homeland– or ambitious, energetic Shallotte, who has been struggling to bring success to the alchemy workshop since the passing of her father.
