While fans of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy franchise have had plenty to look forward to these past couple of years, those who prefer Enix’s Dragon Quest games have consistently drawn the short straw. With Dragon Quest X unlikely to ever receive an international release and the franchise currently experiencing the same iOS/Android smartphone releases that Final Fantasy did previously, there has been little for fans to sink their teeth into… until now.
Following the game’s release in Japan this week, Square Enix have confirmed that they will be bringing Dragon Quest Heroes to international markets at a later date in 2015 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. While not the traditional RPG fans may be familiar with, this is a full-scale action RPG developed by Omega Force, a company known for their Koei Warriors franchise and recent work on Hyrule Warriors. Just like Hyrule Warriors, this game doesn’t entirely comprise of new characters but instead mixes and matches its cast with new and crossover characters.
While Koei Tecmo Games’ Omega Force serves as developer, both Yuji Horii (Director/Creator of Dragon Quest) and Koichi Sugiyama (Composer since the very first instalment) will be along for the ride, providing their expertise and knowledge of the series.
Expect to hear more on this game in the near future.
