The Sounds of Battlefield Hardline – Developer Diary #3

-

Especially in fast-paced video games which require split second decision making, sound and music tend to be forgotten amongst the other elements in my experience. This is despite them playing such an integral role in the overall realism and enjoyment which can be derived from the game being played.

Hoping to highlight the efforts they have taken in providing sound design which is faster for both vehicles and weapons in their upcoming first-person shooter, Battlefield Hardline, Visceral Games and Electronic Arts have released a new Developer Diary focusing exclusively on the sound. This video can be viewed above.

Battlefield Hardline is set for release on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC from March 19th 2015 in Australia and March 20th 2015 in New Zealand. This particular Battlefield instalment is a pretty significant deviation from earlier Battlefield games, ditching the usual military setting and replacing it with Police vs. Criminals / “War on Crime” in more urban environments.
