The Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy Begins Making Its Mark on the PC

When Final Fantasy XIII first launched several years ago on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox360, it could hardly have been considered the greatest Final Fantasy game by any lengths. With a very linear storyline that felt like you were just walking down corridors and gameplay that felt more about style than strategy, there were many areas that could have been improved upon to deliver a rewarding Final Fantasy experience.

But while they could have walked away from the game and started work on what is now referred to as Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix pretty much dedicated an entire console generation to Final Fantasy XIII and released two subsequent installments – both of which tried and succeeded in distancing itself from the lackluster design choices of the first game.

But even with the trilogy finished, the development team can’t help but find themselves drawn to the trilogy once again – and will be releasing all three instalments on the PC via Steam in the coming months. The first game has been launched today, supporting a full-screen mode, 60 frames-per-second, Japanese/English voice acting and the usual assortment of Steam collectibles that I personally can’t motivate myself to care about.

More information about the PC releases of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be made available soon.
