While Assassin’s Creed Unity is set for release on current gen consoles (PS4 / XBONE) and the PC, it would have been hard for Ubisoft not to acknowledge that there is a much larger install base on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 that could very well miss out on this years annual Assassin’s Creed release. Irrespective of the reasoning behind the decision, the developer/publisher have announced that Assassin’s Creed Rogue is in development for the PS3 and XB360, for release on November 11th, 2014.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue is currently in the middle of development by Ubisoft’s Sofia studios, in collaboration with Ubisoft’s Singapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan and Bucharest studios. Set in the middle of the 18th century during the Seven Years War, Assassin’s Creed Rogue gives players new locations across North America to explore, including the frozen North Atlantic, the Appalachian River Valley and New York. In Assassin’s Creed Rogue, players experience the Assassin’s Creed universe through the eyes of a Templar. As Shay Patrick Cormac, players suffer the brotherhood’s betrayal and transform into an Assassin hunter.
One of the key elements from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag being ported over is the navel system, which has supposedly been further enhanced. The game also gives players new weapons to use on both land and sea in pursuit of taking down the Assassins, including a new ship called the Morrigan.

We know that there are many Assassin’s Creed fans with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles who want to get their hands on a new Assassin’s Creed game this year. Assassin’s Creed Rogue completes the North American saga started with Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and gives previous-generation console owners an exclusive opportunity to experience fan-requested features, such as playing as a Templar.
There has been no confirmation of plans to release this game on the PC or the current generation of consoles. However with Ubisoft porting over Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation from the PS Vita to PS3, XB360 and PC platforms, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility.
