Thought that Bandai Namco put too much emphasis on returning characters during their first set of “Character Focus” trailers the other week? This time around they have chosen to highlight the two primary newcomers to the ‘Tales of Xillia’ chronology – playable protagonist Ludger Will Kresnik and plot critical Elle Marta, both of whom will be joined by all previous party members and other main characters during their journey.

Ludger Will Kresnik
Ludger Kresnik lives with his elder brother, Julius, in an apartment in Trigleph. Calm and one hell of a cook! He yearns to follow in his brother’s footsteps and become an agent of the illustrious Spirius Corporation – but fate has other plans for him. Due to a chance encounter, Ludger meets with Elle Marta and swears to protect her on her journey to a mystical place known as “The Land of Canaan,” which is said to grant wishes. Throughout his journey, will the choices Ludger makes lead the world to salvation… or certain destruction?
Similar to the protagonists of Persona 3/4, Ludger is a silent protagonist whose dialogue is determined by a series of two-option responses presented to the player during the game. Unless things have changed in the English release, he will have dubbed dialogue during subsequent playthroughs.
Elle Mel Marta
Elle Marta has been separated from her father during a dark and thundery night when a mysterious group of villains attacked them. Her father’s parting words are for her to “meet (him) at the Land of Canaan”. Despite her sassy and blunt nature; she tags along with Ludger to achieve her goals. But little does he know, this girl holds far more importance to his destiny than he could ever imagine…
During her travel to the Land of Canaan, Elle meets plenty of important characters that will have a certain importance through-out her journey.
