Taking the idea first implemented by Square Enix with Tomb Raider, Sony Computer Entertainment and Naughty Dog have announced that they will be releasing The Last of Us Remastered for the PlayStation 4, directly based on the original 2013 PlayStation 3 release which when reviewed on The Otaku’s Study walked away with a fantastic A-grade.
This release will feature the entire original game remastered in 1080p in addition to a wealth of upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures and pretty much all the features you would expect to (quite likely) get you paying the same retail price for a game the second time around (Update: EB Games Australia have it listed for $99.95 AUD, the same price as the PlayStation 3 release brand new).
In addition to new features, they are also including a brand new director’s commentary for all in-game cinematics, the “Left Behind” single player expansion, “Abandoned Territories” multiplayer pack and the “Reclaimed Territories” pack for which more details will be announced shortly.
Currently The Last of Us Remastered is set for release in Winter 2014 (or Summer 2014 for those in the Northern Hemisphere).
