Japanese video game developer Yasumi Matsuno has accumulated a number of strong games under his belt over his two years in the industry including Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy XII. He has decided to team up with the team at Playdek to work on a brand new tactical RPG titled “Unsung Story” and launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for $600,000 – a goal which at this rate he should have no trouble meeting.

Aiming to provide a complex and rich game world with an “inspiring class based tactics game play”, the Unsung Story timeline covers many chapters of the sprawling war-torn history of the fantasy world of Rasfalia. The central plot follows the struggles of heroes who fought in the Seventy-Seven Years War between great kingdoms and empires. The story for each hero will constitute an episode, with each episode being comprised of many stages of game play. Each episode will depict a part of the Seventy Seven Years’ War from the vantage point of various protagonists. Some episodes will span a single year, while others may take place over a decade or more.

There are currently many pledge tiers available, with the first tier to include a digital copy of the game being $20 all the way up to the usual $10,000 tier which includes a Skype meeting with Playdek, a development t-shirt, your Face in the game (NPC or Soldier), a specially made giclee and an invitation to the launch party w/ an invite to have drinks with the major development team members.

There are also a plethora of stretch goals which start from the $800,000 mark which include additional scenarios, extra development team members, new classes, new modes and potential support for the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS platforms. There is no word on if they will be considering the PS3 / PS4 / Xbox360 / Xbox One / Wii U home video game consoles.
