While Square Enix have put a lot of resources and attention on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which is exceeding the expectations set from its original 2010 release, the publisher isn’t forgetting about their earlier online game Final Fantasy XI which is now celebrating its 11th Birthday. After so many years of being online they are wanting gamers to return to the online world of Vana’diel, and are offering some bonuses to those who return even for a little while.
Now being run on the servers, they are hosting “The Vana’diel Experience Campaign“, where all inactive players who have previously subscribed to Final Fantasy XI will automatically have their accounts reactivated and will be able to play free of charge during the campaign period. This campaign will end on Monday, December 23rd at 6:59 AM PST, after which a subscription will be required for continued play.
In addition, they will be distributing complementary FINAL FANTASY XI: Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition’s for free from now until the 23rd December for all players with a valid registration code which includes all expansions from Rise of the Zilart to Seekers of Adoulin, minus the digital goodies for purchasing the edition at retail.
