Following its release in Japan yesterday, Square Enix have today confirmed that Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is now available on both iOS and Android phones and tablets internationally. The After Years is a direct sequel to their 1991 RPG Final Fantasy IV, set a dozen years later and focusing on the events surrounding the “second moon”.

Originally released for Japanese mobile phones in 2008, the game has undergone a full remake for mobile devices with completely recreated graphics and 3D polygon characters. While being older, several characters from the original will make a reappearance in addition to a few new characters. These new characters include Ceodore, the son of Cecil and Rosa who serves as a protagonist for this title. Different scenarios are however set to feature different main characters, so don’t expect to stick with controlling the same character on the field all the time.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is now available on the iOS App Store and Android Google Play store at a rather hefty (For “app” standards) price of $15.99.
