Following what seems to have been a successful international release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, Square Enix have announced their plans to bring another three older Kingdom Hearts titles to the Playstation 3 under the title Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. Covering titles from three different consoles, this collection will feature the Final Mix release of Kingdom Hearts II (Originally on the PS2), Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix (Originally on the PSP) and theatrical cut-scenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded (Originally on the Nintendo DS).

Picking up where the last collection left off, players will be able to continue their adventures with Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy, and explore the origins of the Kingdom Hearts series with Terra, Aqua and Ventus – all with the high-definition visuals and enhanced gameplay mechanics you would expect from a HD collection.

While Dream Drop Distance has not been included in the collection, between 1.5 and 2.5 collections you should have almost everything you should need to dive into Kingdom Hearts III when it releases on the Playstation 4 / Xbox One platforms at an unspecified date in the future.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX is set to hit store shelves from sometime next year.

  1. Interesting. I imagine quite a few people will be picking this up just to play Birth by Sleep HD. Not a fan of how Square goes about their re-releasing though, especially when it’s done so weirdly. The Metal Gear HD Collection is the best example of how to do kind of thing right, considering every game is in the Legacy Collection thereabout. It really spoils you for how most publishers do HD collections on PS3 now…
