Following a path many video game publishers seem to be taking with their IP’s in recent years, Namco Bandai Games have today confirmed that the first free-to-play installment in their Ace Combat series is set to take-off later this year. This release will be exclusive to the Playstation 3.

Featuring a new story campaign and team co-op multiplayer, the development team behind Ace Combat Infinity hopes to dive into many of the series’ charm points. The game combines a precise near future world setting with elements that are important to fans from previous Ace Combat titles, including super weapons and hyper-real visuals. The Story Campaign Mode will immerse players in the game’s original scenario as they execute a series of perilous solo missions. In the game’s online multiplayer mode, skilled aces will form two teams of up to four players and compete to inflict the most damage on a common enemy.
