Nintendo of Australia Announce Plans for Inaugural PAX Australia Event

-

Pokemon Championship

Nintendo of Australia have today confirmed their plans for the first annual Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) Australia set to be held from tomorrow in Melbourne, Victoria.

Make sure to bring your Nintendo 3DS for a big weekend of multiplayer fun and enjoy all your favourite Nintendo 3DS titles like Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Mario Kart 7 with other Nintendo fans. The booth will be a place to enjoy all the StreetPass functionality of Nintendo 3DS, and charging stations will be available so players can keep charged throughout the day. Of course, with StreetPass don’t forget to just wander around with the console in your bag/pocket…. to collect the few stragglers who never manage to make their way to the Nintendo booth.

There will also be an array of up-coming titles on the booth, with Australian fans able to get their hands on 3DS titles for the very first time such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Sonic Lost World. Playable on Wii U will be a variety of software including Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World. The Dropbear Theatre on Saturday afternoon at 4:30pm will host a special Animal Crossing: New Leaf event, where players can meet fellow fans and hear from the development team as they answer questions put forward by Australian Animal Crossing fans in this special video presentation.

Most notably in my opinion, the Nintendo Booth will hold host to the very first Australian round of the Pokemon Video Game Australian National Championships,  where Pokémon fans from around Australia and New Zealand will battle it out on Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2. Players placing in the top two of their age division will win flights, accommodation and invitation to the Pokémon Video Game World Championships, hosted by The Pokémon Company International in Vancouver, Canada. Age divisions are as follows:

Saturday 20th July
Masters Division: Born in 1997 or earlier
Registration 10am – 12pm
Competition 12pm – 6pm

Sunday 21st July
Junior Division: Born in 2002 or later
Registration 10am – 11am
Competition 11am – 2pm

Sunday 21st July
Senior Division: Born in 1998, 1999, 2000, or 2001
Registration 2pm – 3pm
Competition 3pm – 6pm

THAT BEING SAID, if you want to take part in this event DON’T LEAVE YOUR NINTENDO DS OR GAME CARTRIDGE AT HOME IN ANOTHER STATE.

Other than that, have fun!
