One of the biggest announcements during this years Playstation E3 press conference was that the Playstation 4 would not feature any used-game DRM or 24-hourly check-ins which was the fuel of much controversy behind the Xbox One platform. But while there was much cheering over this announcement there still remained the question if Sony Computer Entertainment would continue the pattern of having all Playstation consoles region free or if they would follow the trend of their competitors and restrict video game titles to different region.
Shuhei Yoshida, the President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios has come out on Twitter and confirmed that there will be no region locks on the console making it effectively region free. As someone who is forced at times to import games (Either because they don’t have a publisher in Australia or because they are exclusive to Japan) this makes me very happy – and was at the heart of several of my tweets during the conference.
Region locking? @PlayStationEU
I hope not.

@pKjd Now just need to wait to see if they confirm or deny a region lock. Hopefully there is no region lock.
