HomeVideo Games Super Mario 3D World

[E3 2013 Announcement / Trailer] Super Mario 3D World

-

I have always and most probably always will hold a fondness for the Super Mario series due to the impact it has had on my in my gaming life. Not only was Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins the very first video game I ever owned but, and more relevant to this article,  one of the very first games I owned for a home video game console was Super Mario 64 – the 3D platformer that I spent countless hours of my childhood playing through. Given that the Wii was basically home to the Mario Galaxy line of games I was concerned that they might choose to continue this style of gameplay but it turns out the first 3D platformer in the series for the Wii U will return back to the core gameplay mechanics that I grew up with.

During their Nintendo Direct conference this evening, Nintendo announced Super Mario 3D World which draws from its Nintendo 3DS predecessor and retains a more classic Mario charm from the look of things (Oh, and cat costumes). In this installment which you can expect to see released just in time for Christmas, you will be able to play as groups of up to four players (Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Peach) as they did once before in Super Mario Bros. 2 with slightly unique perks for each character.

I look forward to hearing more from Nintendo on this title in the coming days.
