While it may not have the epic storyline of other games, when it comes to the storyline of the Ratchet & Clank series you can expect laughs and an overall enjoyable experience. It turns out that after many installments in the main series as well as several mini-games and pursuits in other media formats the team at Insomniac Games have decided to take to the big screen. Them alongside Sony Computer Entertainment today announced that the teams at Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment are currently in production on the first Ratchet & Clank cinematic adventure.
Insomniac will still have a hands-on role when it comes to the film’s production, screenplay, character development and animation consulting. T.J. Fixman, who has been behind the writing of all recent Ratchet & Clank games will return to write yet another (hopefully) witty and creative script. Expect to wait a while however, as we won’t be seeing this on the big screen until early 2015.
Ted Price | Founder and CEO of Insomniac Games
We’ve always thought Ratchet and Clank would be a fantastic all-ages movie and are thrilled our intergalactic heroes will finally get their chance to shine on the big screen. Insomniac is especially honoured to play a hands-on role with the film’s production, including the screenplay, consulting on character development and animation, and adding support to the film’s marketing.
