Even with the remake of the PS3 game Disgaea 3 just having been announced, information is coming out rapidly about the new features and new characters. First of all I suppose the biggest announcement would be the inclusion of two new characters which from the sounds of it will be the focus of at least some of the new scenarios.
Before going into this however – a quick look into the original storyline for those who have not played the game. This game takes place in the Netherworld Academy – where students are praised for being slackers and if deciding to go to class, do homework or perform charity work, are deemed as delinquents. The main character in this story is Mao, son of the current dean of the school and is the top Honor student in the school, having never attended a single class and performing misdeeds… in between pulling a Flonne and spending hour upon hour watching anime and playing games. However, after reading a manga about Super Heroes – decides to become a Hero to gain the ultimate power. However from there, everything changes as he brings a “False Hero”, “Princess”, “Top Delinquent of the School” and “Cooking Instructor” to his aid in his potentially evil deeds.
Now, this story was fully completed by the end, so there was no chance of just extending the original story….. so what is better then adding a few extra scenarios with new characters. These four chapters will each have a different hero and continue the storyline after the main story. These chapters are where the two new characters will be introduced. The first character is Ruchiru, a 15 year old who is part Nekomata and part human. She will possibly put Raspberyl to shame and become the new delinquent as she has paid both tuition and food expenses early! The second character is Stella, a 1657 year old demon who is a teacher and can summon Zombies and Slimes (Possible means to free up party space?).
The article also lists several other topics such as the inclusion of all Disgaea 3 DLC content built in, the normal storyline and gameplay system, animated portraits in cutscenes, touch screen elements and the inclusion of a new tier of magic – the Terra level spells with unique illustrations for each of the elements.
