The Otaku’s Gaming Study #N1B – Disgaea 4 + Some Good News! 1

In a state of wanting to get to bed before 3AM last night, I seemed to skip over a few little things from the announcements so I have decided to include them in a separate post alongside the recent announcement regarding the PSN Network. So without further ado, here is the content of this The Otaku’s Gaming Study.

  • Disgaea 4 Asset Updates
  • PlayStation Network Updates

Of course, starting from the next edition, it will be all companies inclusive.  However I have two anime and game reviews to complete this week at least, so look forward to them!

Disgaea 4

The Otaku’s Gaming Study #N1B – Disgaea 4 + Some Good News! 2

Does everyone remember the Zettai Hero Project trailer that was released a few months back and how it had a really awesome dialogue added over it introducing the setting, characters and gameplay elements? Well sadly, the person voicing the announcer isn’t as epic as him, however in the new Disgaea 4 trailer, they promise to fulfill your manly fantasies, so if you want to see how they plan on doing so, view the trailer below:

Through the Manifesto Declarations they promise us:

  • Mega-damage and Ultra High Stats (In other words, what has been in Disgaea since day 1)
  • Outrageous Gameplay
  • To make your manliest fantasy come true
  • A Clean and Prosperous Nation (Aka. World Domination anyone?)
  • Worlds most Cost Efficient Performance
  • Worry-free Start Up Plan
  • Boundless Possibilities (Online Mode and Custom Levels anyone?)

Also included with the trailer was a bunch of graphic assets that can be found below:

2. PlayStation Network is Slowly Coming Back

As of today, Sony has announced on their US and EU blogs that they will be slowly restoring access to the PlayStation Network country by country. Currently I am aware that most, if not all of the US has been reactivated and judging from the EU blogs, that at least some part of Europe have had their access reinstated. As of posting this article, the Australian and New Zealand PSN has not had access restored. The announcement posted on the US and EU blogs, outlining apologies, improvements and services that are being reactivated in the first wave.

As of now, you are able to update your Playstation 3’s with a mandatory patch to version 3.61 prior to using online functionality again. The information on this patch is below:

We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.

If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.

We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

After all the troubles over the past week, it will be good to get back on the Playstation 3, load up some online games and sync the large pile of trophies I have accumulated over the last month. Of course, it was beneficial as I was able to get through a rather big backlog of XBox360 games for more game reviews!
