An interesting opportunity has arisen for “new” opera and musical theatre talent to take part in Opera Queensland and Shake & Stir Theatre Co’s upcoming regional schools tour of Hansel & Gretel from June-October 2024.

Join the iconic, sweet-toothed siblings as they outwit the mischievous (and constantly hungry) witch. Filled with non-stop gags, toe-tapping songs and hilarious mishaps, this slapstick adventure lets the audience interact with its characters, teaching children the importance of family, friendship, and fairy floss.
Hansel & Gretel is set to join an already expansive line-up of shows available to schools in 2024 from Shake & Stir Theatre Co, ranging from iconic works such as Romeo & Juliet, MacBeth and Animal Farm, to some more unique works such as Me, Myself & AI and Tragic Magic. This is all in-addition to their main-stage shows, from Brisbane’s semi-newish tradition of seeing A Christmas Carol, the new work Fourteen, their original work adapting Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox and delivering the 2024 regional tour of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.
