During their 13-show season of A Christmas Carol earlier in the month, producers shake & stir theatre co-partnered with the Queensland Actors’ & Entertainers’ Benevolent Fund to raise money for the latter. The organisation helps support those active in the creative industry who are struggling. They were particularly prevalent throughout COVID-19, given the entire industry was and still is being severely limited by the pandemic.

The ABF Christmas appeal was done at each performance of A Christmas Carol, including having collection buckets positioned throughout the Lyric Theatre and also having limited edition Christmas tree baubles available for purchase – with all proceeds from each going to the fund.

In an announcement made earlier this evening via Shake & Stir’s social media platforms, they confirmed that a grand total of $77,766 was raised – averaging out to $5,982 raised each time the cast took to the stage.

It is a phenomenal result and we are absolutely blown away by the generosity of our shake & stir audience. From the bottom of our hearts – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
