Southern Cross Soloists Perform Once More This Month with 25th Anniversary Concert

We commenced our QPAC anniversary season with a sell-out concert featuring the dazzling virtuosity of Miroslav Petkov, Principal Trumpet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, joining us after his electrifying Australian debut in 2018.

Our second QPAC concert in June was unable to go ahead due to COVID-19 restrictions, so we are ecstatic to be returning next month to perform alongside two amazing Queensland guest artists and finish our celebratory year on a high note.

Audiences are certainly in for a treat with talented Queensland soprano, Rebecca Cassidy, who is currently an Opera Queensland Young Artist. A finalist in the acclaimed Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition in 2018, Rebecca has a quality of voice that exudes the rare combination of purity and exquisite beauty alongside effortless power and intense drama. SXS are excited to introduce and showcase this outstanding young Queenslander at the cusp of her career to our audiences at QPAC.

We are also delighted to welcome back internationally acclaimed didgeridoo soloist Chris Williams, whose stirring performance was moving and mesmerising when he joined SXS in Maps and Journeys last year. Chris has recently been appointed as Southern Cross Soloists’ Artist in Residence.

This year, we reflect on our journey since forming in 1995 as a group of friends coming together to play chamber music. The Soloist ensemble has grown and developed over the years, and I am proud that it now sits at the forefront of the Australian classical music industry.

We look forward to celebrating this significant milestone and our return to the stage with our wonderful audiences as we present SXS Returns
