Queensland Theatre’s Play Club Continues August 4th with ‘First Love is the Revolution

Unable to put on full seasons of shows at this point in time, the creative team at Queensland Theatre has over the past few months utilised digital technology to engage with their community in the interim. One of this is their monthly Play Club online events, where members of the performing arts community come together and read scripts of iconic plays. This may not be an ideal replacement for on-stage performances, but is nevertheless a suitable alternative until venues can open back up.

The next instance of Queensland Theatre’s Play Club will commence at 7.30pm on Tuesday 4 August 2020. Hosted via Zoom Webinar, this live reading will be of First Love is the Revolution by young Australian playwright Rita Kalnejais.

The reading will see actors Julian Curtis, Sophia Emberson-Bain, Bardiya McKinnon, Sarah Meacham, Veronica Neave and Lucas Stibbard come together to read through this foxy reboot of Romeo and Juliet.

The capacity for each of the upcoming free streams will be strictly limited. Therefore, if this is something of interest to you, booking via the official Queensland Theatre website is essential. The Play Club streams are being on a month-to-month basis, so keep an eye out for more information on what’s next from Queensland Theatre in the coming weeks.
