Mamma Mia! The Musical Official EPK

For many months now, it has been impossible for fans of musical theatre to see a show performed live due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and there is no indication of when it would be possible to do so again. This is due to financial reasons and the need for producers to fill a theatre, as well as a show schedule needing to be lined up with auditions and rehearsals in-place. We will surely get back to that point, it is just a matter of when.

At the end of 2019 on The Otaku’s Study, I ran a Photographic Retrospective series around photography and videos I had taken at numerous stage show media calls since 2015. If you need something to scratch your itch for a musical number, reminisce about your favourite show, or enjoy a well-designed set; I strongly encourage you to check out.

While I was able to attend many media calls with professional equipment in tow, there were some I attended with only a mobile phone in tow – more to get a sense of the show rather than inclusion in a review or some other form of content. The quality of these clips are average, and were not initially planned for inclusion in the Photographic Retrospective. However, if you find yourself needing a bit of a theatrical pick-me-up this afternoon, then be sure to give them a watch.

With only one theatre big enough in Queensland to host a major musical, the one chosen over the summer school holidays is an important one. Not only would this likely bring in more foot traffic kudos of the particular time of year, but also is the musical that many families would look at heading to. Following the fantastic inclusions The Lion King as the summer musical of 2014, Les Miserables in 2015 and Matilda the Musical in 2016; they were complemented by the perfect “fun night out” show Mamma Mia! The Musical in 2017. Managed by Louise Withers and Associates, the cast was headlined by Natalie O’Donnell as Donna Sheridan, Sarah Morrison as Sophie Sheridan, Alicia Gardiner as Rosie and Jayde Westaby as Tanya, among many others.

Below you can find snippets of four songs in Mamma Mia! The Musical – Thank You For the Music feat. Sarah Morrison, Ian Stenlake, Phillip Lowe and Josef Ber, Does Your Mother Know feat. Jayde Westaby and Sam Hooper, Money, Money, Money feat. Natalie O’Donnell and a sample of the encore remix.
