After launching at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Lyric Theatre in mid-March to a packed crowd, The Sound of Music has continued to entertain audiences for many weeks now. But all good things must come to an end, and tonight was the final Brisbane curtain call for the show.
The Sound of Music is now headed to Melbourne for its third leg, which will be held in the Regent Theatre from May 13 2016. While the main cast will reprise their roles, a new group of local youth will have an opportunity to take on the role of the von Trapp children.
While their time with the show might be concluded, special recognition must go to the youth who handled the roles of the von Trapp children in Brisbane. Playing Friedrich was Luke Harrison, Bailey Kelleher and Jayden McGinlay. Playing Louisa was Sophie Moman, Samantha Todd and Lauren Towns. Playing Kurt was Landon Broadley, Oliver Cameron and Sam Green. Playing Brigitta was Emma Louise Cobb, Nina Le Vesconte and Alyssa Myers. Playing Marta was Amelia Ayris, Giselle Roe and Indya Tangye, and playing Gretl was Stella Charrington, Izellah Connelly and Dana Weaver.
The recurring cast for The Sound of Music’s latest Australian tour includes Amy Lehpamer as Maria Rainer and Cameron Daddo as Captain Georg von Trapp. This duo stars alongside Marina Prior as Baroness Schraeder, Jacqueline Dark as Mother Abbess, Lorraine Bayly as Frau Schmidt, David James as Max Detweiler, Stefanie Jones as Liesl and Du Toit Bredenkamp as Rolf.
