School of Rock The Musical Headed to London’s West End in October

Although those of us Down Under still seem to have have some time to go until the stage musical arrives on our stages, those in the United Kingdom won’t have all that long to wait for School of Rock The Musical to begin in their region. It has been confirmed that the London West End performances of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s latest production will start on October 24th 2016. Tickets will go on sale from May 25th via the show’s official website.

School of Rock The Musical will be performed in the New London Theatre. This theatre is currently home to a season of Show Boat, a new production of the 1927 musical which began last month.

School of Rock The Musical is an adaptation of the 2003 film School of Rock, which starred Jack Black as Dewey Finn and Joan Cusack as Principal Rosalie Mullins. While this musical does feature some songs from the film, including “Teachers Pet”, it also features a range of new tracks composed for this adaptation. Here’s hoping there will be a speedy transition from the US/UK to Australia in the near future.
