The West End stage production of Singin’ in the Rain is not that far away from splashing its way into Melbourne, with the classic stage musical to premiere at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne starting May 7th. Following a few preview sessions, its opening night will be held on May 14th 2016. From next week, the cast will assemble in Melbourne to commence rehearsals for the show. To mark the show’s upcoming Australian start, brand new tickets for Singin’ in the Rain have been made available via Ticketek.
The Singin’ in the Rain cast will be led by Adam Garcia as Don Lockwood, marking his return to the Australian stage. Joining Adam as his sidekick Cosmo Brown is Jack Chambers. This is in addition to Gretel Scarlett as aspiring actress Kathy Selden, Erika Heynatz as Lockwood’s leading lady Lina Lamont, Robyn Arthur as Hollywood gossip reporter Dora Bailey, Rodney Dobson as Roscoe Dexter and Mike Bishop as RF Simpson.
They will be joined by a sizable supporting cast which includes: Ben Brown, Nadia Coote, Stefanie De Castro, Jan Di Pietro, Samantha Leigh Dodemaide, Ben Gillespie, Jillian Green, Melanie Hawkins, Matthew Jenson, Lauren Jimmieson, Rob Mallett, Sam Marks, Hayley Martin, Meghan O’Shea, Glen Oliver, Nathan Pinnell, Jordan Pollard, Romina Villafranca, Rachael Ward and Lyndon Watts. That’s a lot of people who will be getting onto the wet stage!
Can’t make it to see Singin’ in the Rain in Melbourne? Don’t fret, as it will be doing multiple stops in its Australian tour. Following Sydney is a run at the Sydney Lyric Theatre in July, the QPAC Lyric Theatre in September and subsequent shows in Adelaide (December) and Perth (December)
