It has this week been announced that the stage musical Velvet will be returning to Brisbane for a strictly limited season in April 2016, to be performed in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) Cremorne Theatre. Following sell-out seasons in 2015 at the Adelaide Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, the Sydney Opera House and the Brisbane Festival, VELVET is returning for an encore season.
Director Craig Hott seeks to take guests into a hedonistic world, which pits dazzling acrobatics against disco divas in a sexy, spectacular, sparkling and slightly sadomasochistic show. Taking the stage will be singer/songwriter Brendan Maclean who heads the cast, and will be joined by an ensemble of talent including muscle man Stephen Williams, hula boy extraordinaire Craig Reid, acrobatic wunderkind Mirko Köckenberger, sizzling aerialist Emma Goh, the sassy sirens Chaska Halliday and Rechelle Mansour, musical director and mix master Joe Accaria and the diva Marcia Hines.
Tickets to see Velvet will go on sale 22nd February 2016, and will be available to purchase via the QPAC website and box office. The show will run for just short of a month in the Cremorne Theatre, with the season to run from 20th April to 15th May. Pricing is currently unknown.
