Over the last couple of months, The Arts Centre Gold Coast have shared information about a few of the major events set to take place during their inaugural Glitter Festival – to be held from September 28 2015 until October 5 2015. With sunshine and perfect Winter temperatures raining on the Surfers Paradise Broadwater this morning, Performing Arts Manager Brad Rush and other members of TACGC team officially announced the full program for Glitter Festival 2015, which includes a range of performing arts, cinematic works, gallery exhibitions and other performances.

For those unfamiliar with the Glitter Festival, it will serve as the Gold Coast’s first ever celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, A-sexual, Pansexual + community (LGBTIQAP+). Even if you are not personally a member of this community, everyone is welcome to take part provided they are supportive of the community. Looking over at the program as I type this, there are many things that I genuinely look forward to seeing.

Ultimately there is far too much on offer at The Arts Centre Gold Coast and collaborating venues to be able to list everything on offer in this article. Therefore I encourage everyone to check out the official Glitter 2015 website HERE and download a copy of the program HERE. Given that there is something on offer during each of the eight days, you could potentially find yourself with something to do every day.

Aside from the previously announced major events (Tacos and Tiaras, Glitter Race Day and Pride Run Gold Coast), a few personal highlights include a performance of Liza (on an E), a screening (with pre-event fun) of cult classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show and a one-off show featuring Australian comedian Joel Creasey.

The Arts Centre Gold Coast are also holding a “Triple Treat Ticketing Package” deal, where those who purchase a ticket of three or more Glitter Festival cabaret shows will receive 15% discount off the purchase price.

During his program launch speech, Performing Arts Manager and Glitter Festival Artistic Director Brad Rush commented “This is another turning point ladies and gentlemen for the Gold Coast, where we can prove to the rest of the country our level of maturity and our cultural and social aspirations, also responding to a growing desire to be truly accepting and inclusive”.

Glitter Festival 2015 is set to take place at The Arts Centre Gold Coast and a number of other venues across the Gold Coast. For more information on the festival, check out its official website or archives on The Otaku’s Study.
