Summoning an Aurora | Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo

I started playing Final Fantasy XIV on a more regular basis following the release of its Stormblood expansion pack. As I alluded to yesterday, even then there were many early trials which could easily be tackled by players who had reached the level cap, that have fantastic backdrops to use for photographs and the like. The Akh Afah Amphitheatre is one such example, which after defeating Shiva leaves you with both an icy arena and aurora-laden sky to work into your creative ideas.

These photos were taken around the same time as those I shared yesterday, with my Lalafell avatar taking on the role of Astrologian (their main class at this time). I like the idea that through their magical trinket and surrounding cards, they managed to form a wide-sweeping aurora for these photos.

This photograph was taken in Final Fantasy XIV Online. Final Fantasy XIV is © 2010 – 2020 SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. All Rights Reserved. Please note that this was one of my earlier photos.

Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo is an off-shoot of the Take That (In-Game) Snap article series, in which the first article focusing on Final Fantasy XIV was recently published. This looks at, celebrates and critiques how video game developers have implemented professional photography-like systems into their games. It will cover how the systems handle, just how accessible they are and, where applicable, how a modding community might be making these tools even better. With this Daily Photo spin-off series, I will be sharing individual photos from the games either covered or soon-to-be-covered in the series.
