Do you aspire to take to the stars in one monstrosity of a ship? Although salvage mechanics have yet to be introduced into Cloud Imperium Games’ alpha testing of Star Citizen to date, they have made their Heavy Salvage ship from Aegis Dynamics – The Reclaimer – flyable in-game. This ship being added to the game evaded my attention. However, getting the wander around this ship in recent days, I have to say I was impressed with how large and well detailed it was. Although given its very high purchase price, I won’t be buying it anytime soon.
Everywhere you wander around on the Aegis Reclaimer; there is something new to find. Coming in at a length of approximately 155m and an equally impressive height of 50m, this ship contains a large cargo hold for storing salvage, many a turret available for combat or tractor beam purposes, and a drone bay. If there were one issue on my end at this time, it is that the captain wouldn’t necessarily be flying all that much better than the crew – with their private quarters quite sparse. Take a look at the interior of this ship in more detail below:
In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $250 million USD through on-going crowdfunding.
Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo is an off-shoot of the Take That (In-Game) Snap article series, in which the first article focusing on Final Fantasy XIV was recently published. This looks at, celebrates and critiques how video game developers have implemented professional photography-like systems into their games. It will cover how the systems handle, just how accessible they are and, where applicable, how a modding community might be making these tools even better. With this Daily Photo spin-off series, I will be sharing individual photos from the games either covered or soon-to-be-covered in the series.
